I have decided to submit my Pinups for Pit Bulls application for the 2018 Calendar model search and I want you to apply too! It was not an easy decision for me and I hope to make the decision easier for you by reimbursing the $50 application fee for one lucky reader! (see details below)
I understand your possible fear, as I generally hate having my picture taken and, honestly, I never really thought of myself as “pinup” material. However, after just a few minutes on the phone with Pinups for Pit bulls founder, Deirdre “Little Darling” Franklin about how and why she started the organization and its trademark fundraiser calendar, I’ve decided to throw my hat in the ring in the hopes that, even for one day, I can go from this

Whether I am selected or not, Franklin’s focus on empowering women combined with her organization’s commitment to pit bull advocacy (more on this in an upcoming interview and review of Deirdre’s new book, “The Pit Bull Life”) is reason enough support the organization’s efforts. Also, I believe that my inner pinup girl is just itching to come out so…it is happening…
Why Everyone Should Apply for the Pinups for Pit Bulls Model Search
Several years ago, I started down the road of pit bull rescue and advocacy. I have learned a great deal and I now have a pit bull of my own but I have so much more to learn. There is still so much education, outreach and advocacy work to do to overturn Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) across the country and to improve outcomes for pit bull type dogs that end up in our nation’s shelters and rescues. Deirdre’s group is doing the serious, feet on the ground grassroots work that needs to be done and the annual calendar is the group’s primary source of revenue that supports its efforts. So, applying is a win, even if not selected.

A fantastic fundraising idea, beautiful pictures and most importantly, a wonderful cause. Don’t even get me started on my soapbox about the ignorance permeating our society when it comes to pitbulls and BSL. To be honest it’s frightening how easy it is to get people to jump on a bandwagon they have no understanding about. I have never heard of this organisation or fundraiser so thanks very much for calling our attention to it. BTW, you both look fab!!

I love this organization and this fundraiser and I hope that people will apply for or simply donate to the calendar to support the group’s efforts. They are doing the really important work in communities all over the country to address the ignorance and misinformation you mentioned. Hoping that I get to share an “after” picture 😉

This is such a cool contest! If I were a pitbull mom, I would definitely apply. It would be a ton of fun to get to do a photo shoot like this. Oh my DOG! I would absolutely LOVE to have Mommy Jenny take part in this amazing cause!! She has taken thousands of photos of adopta”bull” photos of Pit Bull dogs in need of homes at our local shelter and has helped them find lots of loving homes, but it would be such fun for her to be in front of the camera, all dolled up. I’ll have us enter on your site, and who knows…maybe she’ll have a chance.
